Horace "Doug" Green's Obituary
Horace Douglas Green, known affectionately as “Doug”, of Pittsgrove Township passed away Wednesday January 29, 2025 at the age of 74. He was the son of the late Horace Gilbert Green and Martha Barnes Lee and devoted husband to wife Shirley Green. Doug was born, raised, and a lifetime resident of the area and the youngest of nine siblings.
Doug devoted much of his life to service working over 40 years and ultimately retiring from the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home in Vineland, NJ. Family and friends described Doug as a “cool cat” as his personality and temperament were known to be very laid back and relaxed. In his free time, you would often see him detailing his cars in order to keep them looking fresh and clean, or you might have bumped into him purchasing lottery tickets at the local store, which was another hobby he thoroughly enjoyed. But most of all, he loved spending time with family and friends, whether that be a family holiday spent together or just the chance to catch up with an old friend.
He leaves his legacy to be cherished by his loving wife Shirley Green, 9 children, Horace, John, Steven, Keith, Omar, Serena, Antoinette, Cynthia, and Ahmad, and a host of siblings, grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and etc. He was predeceased by his parents and one son Anthony.
Family and friends may attend a visitation on Friday February 7, 2025 from 11AM-1PM at the SRAY-WEBSTER FUNERAL HOME, 62 Landis Ave. at Carll’s Corner, Upper Deerfield Twp. Following the visitation, the funeral service will begin at 1PM.
