Hester Ridgway's Obituary
Hester Ann “Red Cloud” Ridgway , aged 92 years, of Fairfield Twp. passed away on Thursday morning, November 21, 2013 at her home under hospice care. She had been in failing health for the past few months.
Born April 7, 1921 in Salem, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Nathaniel and Mary Cuff, and the wife of the late Tilghman Daniel Ridgway Sr. She had resided in Fairfield Twp for most of her life. Hester was a seamstress for many years for sewing factories in the Bridgeton area. She was a proud member of the Nanticoke Lenni Lenape Indian Tribe of Bridgeton, and the Colonial Riders Motorcycle Club of Carmel. She loved sewing, camping, growing flowers in her yard and watching the many birds. She also enjoyed listening to Citizens Band Radio and Charlie Pride music. Surviving her are her children, Beulah “Bonnie” Watters, Margaret “Peggy” Cossaboon, Thomas Ridgway and William “Billy” Ridgway; her god son, Eugene “Bucky” Sammons; her sister, Alta Worley; brothers, Nate Cuff and Morris Cuff; nine grandchildren; several great and great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and other relatives and friends. She was predeceased besides her parents and husband by her son, Tilghman Daniel Ridgway Jr.; sisters, Glendora Pierce, Lucy Pierce, Serena Carter, Emma Seeney; and brothers, Chester and Linwood Cuff. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday November 27, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. from the SRAY-WEBSTER FUNERAL HOME, 62 Landis Ave. Bridgeton, NJ. The interment will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Millville. Friends may call on Wednesday morning from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.
