Rev. Herbert A. "Proud Eagle Spirit" Pierce Jr's Obituary
Reverend Herbert A . "Proud Eagle Spirit" Pierce Jr. of Carmel, NJ passed away early Tuesday morning in Inspira Medical Center, Vineland with his family by his side. He had been in declining health for the past few years.
Born in Bridgeton, January 20, 1946, he was the son of the late Herbert A. "Father of Eagles" Sr. and Elsie L. (Saunders) Pierce and the husband of Rev. Joan Pierce. He was 78 years old.
Herbie grew up in the Bridgeton area and after High School enlisted in the United States Army, proudly serving from 1966 till his honorable discharge in 1968. During his military time, he had lived in both Washington State and Texas. After serving he began employment with Owens Illinois Glass House where he worked as an Electrician until their closing. He then was employed with Atlantic City Electric in the same capacity until his retirement.
Herbie loved the Lord and studied Theology. He was the founder and Pastor of Heavens Saints Worship Center which started in Cedarville and is now located in Deerfield Twp. He loved preaching and delivering the gospel not only to his parishioners but to whoever would listen to the word of God. He was an avid Motorcycle rider and enjoyed his Harley Davidson Motorcycles. Every year at the church, he would host a Sunday dedicated to a ‘Blessing of the Bikes’ with many local riders in attendance. Herbie also greatly enjoyed golfing, bowling, and getting the chance to travel and sightsee when the opportunity arose. He was a member of the Nanticoke Lenni Lenape Tribal Nation and was a regular at the PowWow worship services every year. He loved his family and enjoyed going to breakfast with his friends and talking about Jesus. He will not only be missed by his family but also by his church family as well.
He is survived by his wife Joan, his loving children Nina Johnson and Joe, Kelli Street and Alex, Herbert A. Pierce III and Jeanette, a sister Helen S. Mosley and her husband John, six grandchildren Tashia Vocolos, Devon Vocolos, Katelynn Street, Allysin Street, Herbert A Pierce IV, and Wyatt Pierce, seven great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Saturday October 12, 2024 at 12:00 pm at Heavens Saints Worship Center 140 Rogers Ave Millville, NJ 08332 with a visitation period beforehand from 10AM-12PM. The interment with Military Honors will follow and take place in Fernwood Memorial Park, Hopewell Twp. He will be greatly missed by all whom had the opportunity to know and love him.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to Heavens Saints Worship Center, 140 Roger’s Ave Millville, NJ 08332.
