Here is a copy of the Poem the family has requested to be posted
MY UNCLE HERB
He always had a smile on his face,
and no one on earth could ever take his place;
He was always letting his bright light shine,
and you never knew anyone; any more kind;
He loved Jesus and his family too,
there was nothing for anyone that He wouldnâ??t do!
The jokes he would say, and the tricks that he would play,
would be sure to make anyoneâ??s day.
â??Hey Patsyâ?, I can hear him say; â??You got two tenâ??s for a five?â?
â??Not todayâ? Uncle Herb, I no longer fall for that jive.
He was a carpenter by trade just like â??Jesusâ?
and to this dayâ?¦I have never heard him â??Cussâ?.
He loved to grow things in his garden, hunt and fish too,
Geezâ?¦there was nothing that Uncle Herb could not do!
He volunteered at the Manor making sure patients got to church.
He worked for his tribe, He loved the Lord and doing his work!
He served on the Building Committee, Membership, and Tribal store too;
He volunteered with The Elders Food program and loved the social time spent,
Talking with old friends and meeting some new, wherever he went.
The young and the old they all loved Uncle Herb,
Where ever he went, or stopped for a while;
He was sure to leave you feeling better,
He always had a kind word to share, and a big broad smile.
He took the time to pray and share the word,
Iâ??ve yet to meet someone like My Uncle Herb.
He made sure that everyone he met knew he served the Lord,
and today heâ??s in Heaven receiving his reward.
The tears will still flow as we all well know,
but they are just reminders of the love we will miss,
and his wisdom we came to rely on, is now amiss.
Be thankful to God for loaning him to us for a while,
for he has enriched all our lives in a very unique style.
Sleep on Uncle Herb,youâ??ve earned your rest,
itâ??s now up to the remaining few, to tarry a little longer;
and with your example to follow, we will grow a little stronger.
Your work here is done, and your crown has been won,
but youâ??ve left us all so much for our race left to run.
We â??Thank Youâ? and â??Love Youâ? seems so little to say,
for the things you taught us and the lessons weâ??ve learned,
are priceless treasures Iâ??ll forever cherish;
Some day, we will meet again,
Iâ??ll bring you a cup of coffee and those two tens
Your Niece Forever
