Herbert W. Durham's Obituary
Herbert W. Durham, aged 77 years formerly of Fairfield Twp., passed away in Kennedy Health Systems Washington Twp. on Wednesday morning July 5, 2017. He had been in failing health and a patient of Meadowview Nursing Center in Williamstown since 2007.
Born in Fairfield Twp., he was the son of the late William and Ruth (nee Gould) Durham and was an area resident all of his life.
Herbie was retired due to his failing health after many years as a janitor in the former Fairton School. He had also previously worked for the former Jersey Tyler Iron Foundry in Bridgeton for many years until its closing. He was a member of the Nanticoke Lenni Lenape Indian Tribe of Bridgeton. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, going for long slow rides and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his seven sisters: Rebecca Pierce, Dorothy Pierce, Ella Mae Durham, Mary Jane Pierce, Henrietta Ames, Cordelia Ashton, and Ruth Ann Pierce; his two brothers: William Durham, Charles Durham; and many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. He was predeceased besides his parents by two brothers: Hughee Durham and Elwood Durham.
Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Wednesday July 12, 2017 at 11:00a.m. from the SRAY-WEBSTER FUNERAL HOME, 62 Landis Ave. at Carll’s Corner, Upper Deerfield Twp. The interment will be in Fordville Memorial Park, Fairfield Twp. Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
