Helen Louise West's Obituary
Helen Louise West, 84, of Bridgeton passed early Tuesday evening April 2, 2024, at home under the care of Hospice, surrounded by her children. Born in Boston, Massachusetts September 15, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Helen (Carbonneau) Glynn and the wife of the late John "Pappa John" West who passed in October 2015.
Helen began her life in Boston before relocating with her family to the Bridgeton area during her early years. Her professional journey included serving as a Crossing Guard for the Bridgeton Board of Education, and later dedicating 47 years of her career to the Camden Diocese. She lovingly served as the cook and housekeeper at the Immaculate Conception Rectory in Bridgeton until her retirement. Helen's culinary skills brought joy to countless with her delicious meals, especially during holiday celebrations, as she meticulously handled all grocery shopping duties. Helen was a long-time parishioner of The Parish of the Holy Cross Immaculate Conception Church.
Helen cherished outings to the Casinos alongside her beloved late husband, John, and together, they actively participated in Ducks Unlimited, enjoying the fellowship and activities organized by the group. Their meticulously maintained flower beds and shrubbery along Burlington Road were a source of admiration for the entire community. Helen also found joy in companionship and shopping adventures with her daughter, Andrea, while her greatest delight was spending quality time with her family, particularly her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She epitomized unwavering devotion as a faithful servant, wife, mother, and grandmother.
Helen is survived by her devoted children, Andrea Hannold and her husband John of Rosenhayn, Charles S. Erianne of Bridgeton, and Robert J. Erianne and his wife Amy, also of Rosenhayn. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren: Kayla Marie Erianne, Ashley Lauren Erianne, Robert Anthony Erianne, Cody Charles McMahan, and Paige Nichole McMahan, as well as her cherished great-grandchildren, Journey Jennifer Erianne and Kash Turman. In addition to her parents and husband, John, Helen was preceded in death by her sister, Bobbi Knudson, and step-sisters, Ludeane and Alcine.
Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 12:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be privately held for the family at Cumberland County Veterans Cemetery, where Helen will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, John. Prior to the service, friends may pay their respects during the visitation hours on Saturday from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.
