Harry S. Jackson's Obituary
Harry S. "Bucky" "Buck-Eye" Jackson, 79, of Hopewell Township, was reunited with his wife Betty in Heaven on November 6th, 2013.
Born Sept. 12, 1934 to the late Fred Harmon Jackson and Prudence Hortense Steward, Harry was born and raised in Hopewell Township and was a longtime resident of Greenwich until five years ago, when he and Betty moved to Hopewell Place.
Harry married the late Betty Mosley Jackson soon after graduating Bridgeton High School in 1954. He was employed at various local auto body shops including Perry's, Pierce's, and Johnson's in Vineland before retiring. In addition to being an extremely talented auto body man, he enjoyed repairing and restoring automobiles and bicycles.
Harry was a West Cumberland Little League coach and a League president, as well as a member of Colonial Riders Motorcycle Club. He also served as a board president for the Greenwich elementary school. He was one of the original leaders instrumental in the reorganization of the Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape Indians of New Jersey.
Adventurous as well as creative, he took pleasure in teaching his children how to enjoy various sports activities. Harry was a devoted and faithful husband, a proud and loving father and grandfather, and a sincere friend to all. After his wife Betty passed, he stayed strong and was an encouragement to the family. After his own battle with COPD, the Lord called Harry home. We will miss him dearly.
Harry is survived by his children, J. Stephanie Woerner of Bel Air MD., Terri Fuller (Richard ) of Stow Creek, Harry Jackson (Linda) of Upper Deerfield, Raymond Jackson of Lewes, DE, and Tori Gould of Hopewell Township; his brother, Fred Jackson (Linda) of Fairport, NY; twelve grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his wife Betty, his parents, Fred and Hortense Jackson and sister, Thelma Goldsboro.
Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Harry's life on Saturday, November 23rd at 10:30 AM at Sray Webster Funeral Home, 62 Landis Ave, Bridgeton, NJ. A visitation with the family will be held from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM.
