Gerald E Webster's Obituary
Gerald E. Webster, of Bridgeton, passed away on Tuesday morning September 10, 2024 at his home and under the care of Hospice. He was 92 years old.
Born in Port Norris, NJ, he was the son of the late Walter L and Elizabeth (Powell) Webster and the husband of the late Eleanor (Brown) Webster who passed in December of 2020.
Gerald grew up in the Port Norris and Cedarville areas and graduated from Bridgeton High School. After graduating, not wanting to follow in his father and grandfathers footsteps of working on area farms, he enlisted in the United States Army and began his 21 year career; serving during both the Korean and Vietnam wars. He and his wife Eleanor celebrated 60 years of marriage until her passing. They raised their family on and off Army bases all over Europe and the United States. After his retirement from the military, he returned to NJ and settled in Vineland, Buena, and Mays Landing before finally settling in Bridgeton. He worked at Owens Ilinois in Vineland as a second career until his retirement. He and his late wife enjoyed fishing, trips to the casinos, purchasing scratch off lottery tickets, which turned successful on occasions, and building model boats. He truly enjoyed a cold beer and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He is survived by his children; Gerald A Webster and his wife Jemma of Pennsville, and Angel Webster and her husband Andrew Freeman of Jersey City, New Jersey, his grandchildren: Anthony Webster and Dashiell Webster Freeman, three great grandchildren, Adrian Webster, Aubry Webster, Anna Webster and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his step mother Gladys (Pierce) Webster and his brother Walter S Webster.
Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Saturday September 21, 2024 at 12:00 p m from the Sray-Webster Funeral Home. Interment with full Military Honors will be held in Cumberland County Veterans Cemetery, Hopewell where he will be laid to rest next to his wife.
