Gary Bertram Moore-Bey's Obituary
Gary Bertram Moore-Bey age 65, the youngest son of the late Richard (Dick) Moore and the late Laura Isabel (nee Bunting) Moore went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday September 7, 2012 in Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center, Camden, after a short illness.
Born in Salem, he was a lifelong resident of the Salem County area, and was educated in the Quinton and Salem county school districts. He was a 1965 graduate of Salem High School. He was a long time member of Haven United Methodist Church, which he joined at an early age.
After high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he was an E4 Corpsman assigned to the Marine Corp. and served his country in Vietnam. While in the Navy, Gary married Lydia Washington in 1966, and from this union, three children were born, Gary, Marcus, and Candace. After his honorable discharge, Gary joined the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 542 where he served for 28 years. He was a successful entrepreneur and owned Cobol, a building and construction company for the past 15 years. He was well known for his sense of humor and was always a prankster and gadget man. He loved his family and was a loving husband, devoted father and adoring grandfather. He leaves to cherish his memory, Lydia, his loving wife of 46 years, two children, Marcus Moore and Candace Morris (Derrick), two brothers Richard Brown and Richard Moore (Virginia), two sisters Vada Moore and Deborah Oglesby (Jerry), one sister in law, Marilyn Braxton, four grandchildren Daron Summiel, Malcolm Moore, Cali and Ricki Morris, two beloved aunts Lillian Gould and Louise Ford, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Gary was predeceased besides his parents, Richard and Isabel Moore, by one son Gary Moore, brothers, Donald, Joseph, George, and one sister Doris. Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Friday September 14, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. from the Haven United Methodist Church, Rt. 49 Quinton, NJ. The Rev. Loraine Priestly-Smith will officiate. The interment will be in the Salem County War Veterans Cemetery, Pilesgrove Twp. Friends may call on Friday morning at the church from 10:00 to 12:00p.m. prior to the services.
