Frederick Moore Ware Jr.'s Obituary
Frederick Moore Ware Jr., 88, died June 23, 2019 in Liberty, NC. Fred was born March 1, 1931 in Cumberland County, NJ to the late Frederick and Alice (Newkirk) Ware. He is preceded in death by his wife Kim, brother Budd, and daughter-in-law Dee. He leaves his seven children: Barbara DeLozier, Susan Schofield, Frederick (Renee) Ware III, Betsy Ware, Chrissy Ware, Becca (Ross) Simpson, and MaryLou (Andy) Dovan; siblings Barbara Pratt and Joe Mossman; grandchildren Brandon Green, Leah (Josh) Wood, Rowan and Madeleine Simpson, and Olivia Dovan; and four great-granddaughters.
Fred farmed the land where he was born for 40 years and then used his expertise in produce as field manager of Progresso. Shortly after his career change, he met Kim Shaw at Deerfield Presbyterian Church where they married in 1979. At this time Fred recognized God’s hand on his life and renewed his faith in Jesus Christ. After his retirement in 1995, the Wares moved to New Wilmington, PA and in 2018 he relocated to North Carolina to live with family.
Fred had a variety of experiences and talents. He served in various civic roles in both Upper Deerfield and Wilmington Townships, spoke in an Oscar-winning short film, outfitted his homes and local churches with cabinetry, furniture, and hardwood floors, and built a garage and a wrap-around porch at the Wares’ home in New Wilmington. In his 70s and 80s, Fred pursued his lifelong interest in aviation, taking flying lessons and building an experimental aircraft. He was diligent in all things and deeply curious; he could learn how to make or fix anything. To all he knew he was wise and witty, full of right answers and one-liners.
We take comfort in Fred’s favorite verses, Jude 24-25; he has been presented blameless before God’s glory with great joy.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, June 29 at Deerfield Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will begin receiving guests at 9:30 am. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sray-Webster Funeral Home, 62 Landis Ave, Bridgeton, NJ 08302. Written condolences and expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family by visiting the funeral home website at www.sraywebsterfuneralhome.com.
