Flora S Fisher's Obituary
Flora Sarah (Thompson) Fisher, 88 of Fairfield Twp. went peacefully home to be with the Lord on Saturday December 31, 2022. Flora was born October 25, 1934 in Fairfield Twp. to the late Jeremiah and Martha Pierce Thompson. She attended Myron Powell School in Cedarville, Gouldtown School, Fairfield Twp and Bridgeton High School. She married the love of her life, the late Irving F. Fisher on December 22, 1951. They were married 60 years.
Flora worked various occupations over the years including Dr. Rasner’s Office, several clothing factories; including MC Shrank, Siebel and Stern, Marks Manufacturing and Rennoc/Santa’s Best. She also worked for Fairfield Township School in the cafeteria and F.W. Woolworth in Bridgeton. In her later years she worked at the Dollar Wiz and part time in other local school cafeteria’s. She loved children and in her earlier years while raising her own family and later in retirement she cared for family and neighborhood children.
Flora devoted much time in retirement praying for family and members of the community. If she met you, she put you on her daily prayer list. She loved to sing, dance, read, and crochet tie towel, afghans, lap blankets for residents in nursing homes, hats and scarves for family, friends, chemo patients and the homeless.
Flora was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She leaves to mourn and cherish her memory her children, Herbert Fisher (Darlene) of Newfield, NJ Linda Pierce (Mark) of Fairfield Twp., Russell Fisher (Madeline) of Deale, Maryland, and Cathy Carney (Charles) of Fairfield Twp., her grandchildren, Charles Carney Jr. (Megan), Christopher Carney (Ashley), Jaime Walker, Megan Simmons (Lee), Brittany Fisher, Russell Fisher Jr. (Mahala), Aaron Pierce, Mark Pierce Jr. (Natalie) and Kristy Pierce (Michael). She is also survived by eighteen great grandchildren, two sisters Mary Rice (Richard), Irene Hoover, and one brother Charles Thompson.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sisters Roseilla Thompson, Alice Thompson, Linda Loatman, and brother Jeremiah Thompson Sr.
Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Saturday January 14, 2023 at 12:00pm at the Implanted Word of God Ministries Church 85 Spruce St. Bridgeton, NJ. Her daughter and son in law Reverends Mark and Linda Pierce will officiate. A viewing will be held prior to the services from 10:00am till 12:00pm. The interment will be in Gouldtown Memorial Park, Fairfield Twp.
