Faye Joyce's Obituary
Faye Joyce of Upper Deerfield Twp. passed away Saturday morning April 24, 2021 in Inspira Medical Center Vineland. She was 83 years old. Born in Hurricane, West Virginia on January 27, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Charles Henson and Tressie Mynes and the wife of the late Charles “Chick” Joyce who passed in 1994. Faye had been a Bridgeton area resident since she was 25 years old.
Coming to the area, she was employed with Owens Illinois Glass Company, the former Chicken Coop Restaurant/Bar in Deerfield Twp., and for 30 plus years as a bartender/waitress at the Hillcrest Tavern where she was well known. After her retirement from the Hillcrest, she worked for 10 years as a bus aide with Sheppard Bus Service. She was a long time member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2127 in Bridgeton. Faye enjoyed camping and did so until her health wouldn’t allow and she truly loved time spent with her family. She will truly be missed by many.
Surviving her are her sons Charles Joyce and his wife Tracy, and James Joyce all of Upper Deerfield Twp., a sister Dorothy “Dot” Bullock and her husband Bobby of North Carolina, and a brother James Mynes of Upper Deerfield Twp., her five grandchildren Zack Joyce, Tiffany Nelson, Jake Joyce, Josh Joyce, Joseph Joyce, and her great grandson Aiden Nelson. She was predeceased besides her husband Chick, by her daughter Tawnya Gail Smith in December of 2020.
Family and friends are invited to attend graveside funeral services in Deerfield Presbyterian Cemetery on Thursday April 29, 2021 at 11:30 am where the Rev. Jamie Bagley will officiate. Burial will follow. A public visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00am from the SRAY-WEBSTER FUNERAL HOME, 62 Landis Ave. at Carll’s Corner, Upper Deerfield Twp.
