Evelyn Smith's Obituary
Evelyn Smith, 75 of Gouldtown, passed away suddenly Monday December 28, 2020 in Inspira Medical Center Vineland, where she had been a patient for four days. Born in Sandersville, Georgia she was the daughter of the late Johnnie Lee (Burden)and Claudie Mae Hagan and the wife of Claude Smith. Evelyn has lived in this area since 1952, moving from Georgia when she was 7 years old.
Evelyn worked for several years until their closing for Green Giant in Vineland. She loved gardening, sewing, watching QVC, listening to gospel music and services broadcasted from Union Baptist Temple Church on Monday evenings. She especially loved her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Claude Smith, her children, Melvin Burden, Yolanda Smith, Courtney Smith, Deidre C. Smith, and Carla Smith, her only sister Betty Brown Pitts and her husband Carl, six grandchildren, Tyesha Cuff, Marla Young, Qua’shaun Ford, Dyshell Sadler, Syerra’lynn Mills and Akeem O. Mills Jr., Fifteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was predeceased by her step-father, Richard C. Brown, her daughter, Marla Smith, two brothers, Robert Lee Burden, and Grady Burden, and three grandchildren, Damon Jones, William Claude Sumiel, and Robert Daniel Sumiel.
Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Saturday January 9, 2021 at 11:00am from the SRAY-WEBSTER FUNERAL HOME, 62 Landis Ave. at Carll’s Corner, Upper Deerfield Twp. Friends may call from 10:00am till service time at the funeral home. Interment will be in Fernwood Memorial Park, Hopewell Twp..
