Edith E Pierce's Obituary
Edith E. Pierce, of Pittsgrove Twp. and formerly of Gouldtown, passed away suddenly on Wednesday November 1, 2023 in Inspira Medical Center, Vineland. She had been in failing health for the past four years. Born in Cheswold, Delaware she was the daughter of the late John Edward and Esther Marie (Carter) Hughes and the wife of the late Arnold J. "AJ" Pierce who passed away in 1997.
Edith worked most of her life as a housekeeper for several area residents. She enjoyed cooking for family and friends and loved to play the guitar. She enjoyed worshipping at Silver Lake Community Church and occasional trips down by the water with friends. Edith truly loved raising and providing for her children.
Surviving her are her children, Harvey Pierce and his wife Bonnie of Pittsgrove Twp., Tony Hughes of Millsboro, Delaware, brother, John Hughes and her sister, Charlotte Jaines, both of Delaware, five grandchildren, Harvey Pierce Jr., Jesse Pierce, Cory Pierce, Steven Pierce Jr., and Andrew Pierce, and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her son Steven Pierce Sr., and siblings, Glendora Sammons, Anna Mildred Newman, John Homer Hughes, and Larry Hughes.
Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Wednesday evening at 7:30 pm. A visitation will be held from 6:00 till 7:30 pm Cremation of the remains will take place privately in Camden County Crematory.
