Dorothy Elizabeth Karol's Obituary
Dorothy nee Butler Karol, 95 of Greenwich died Monday February 9, 2009 at South Jersey Regional Medical Center, Vineland. She had been a patient there for the past four days.
Born in Bridgeton on December 7, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Owen and Mae nee Peacock Butler, of Bacon's Neck, and the wife of Michael Karol. Dorothy was a Registered Nurse, and she had worked at Bridgeton Hospital until World War II, when she joined the United States Army Medical Corps and participated in its North Africa, Sicily and Italy campaigns. After the war she worked as a nurse for the P.J. Ritter company in Bridgeton and she also did private duty nursing for local families. Her last employment was with the Greenwich Board of Education as a cafeteria worker. She loved the lore of the American West, Atlantic beaches and the Delaware Bay shore. She was also a long time member of the Greenwich Presbyterian Church. She was loved and will be sadly missed by many. She is survived by her husband Michael and daughter Marianne Karol and nephew Max Doughty, all of Greenwich, and her sister in law Mary Karol of Upper Deerfield Twp., and several nieces and nephews.
