Dolores Garrett's Obituary
Dolores Hazel (Sooy) Garrett, aged 84 years, passed away suddenly after admission to Balor Scott White Hospital in Waco, Texas on February 9, 2021.
Born in Bridgeton, NJ to the late Albert and Hazel (Riley) Sooy, she was the wife of the late Charles Garrett who passed away in March 2020.
Dolores grew up on Orange St. and York Street and attended the Bridgeton Schools. She volunteered at the local Salvation Army and later joined the Bridgeton Firemans Lady Auxiliary. On September 8, 1970, she met and married Charles Garrett and they made their home in Fairton, NJ for many years. She worked various jobs including Price Label in Bridgeton and Chase Glass in Vineland. She and Charles enjoyed taking their boat on the Delaware Bay, and she was an avid animal lover. In 1986, Charles job took them to Waco, Texas where they relocated. Dolores enjoyed traveling in their motor home to California and trips back home to NJ to visit and stay with family and friends. She would often speak of how she missed her loving family being so far away.
She is survived by her stepson Robbie Garrett and his wife Unho of Hawaii, her brother Larry H. Sooy and his wife Donna of Rosenhayn, her sister Patti Giacalone and husband Louis of Vineland, and a host of nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Charles, her sisters Joan Garrett, Jean E. Welch, Deborah K. Durham and her brother Albert C. Sooy.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 26, 2021 at 11 AM, with visitation one hour prior.
