Deborah Meier Ford's Obituary
Deborah Meier Ford: Born November 5th, 1949 died May 11th 2010. Deb passed peacefully at Fords Farm surrounded by family and friends. Born in Rochester, NY, Deb and her adored late husband Russell Ford moved to Vineland in the late 1970's when they found their dream farm the "Stackhouse Farm" in South Vineland. Deb is survived by her brother Doug Meier Pam, her beloved Mother in Law Jane Ford, Devoted Brothers in Law, Don Ford Denise and Jonathan Ford Valerie, Cherished Sisters in Law, Kay Hynes Pat, Peg Mordello Lou, Liz Rovneyko Ken, 13 nieces and nephews, 9 great nieces and nephews, 1 great great nephew, and many, many friends, particularly Caitlin Wilterdink who was like a daughter to Deb. Ford's Farm combined Russ and Debby's passion for horses and dogs, and happily their dream will continue in the very capable hands of special niece Danielle Ford, who graduates this spring from Delaware Valley College. The farm was host each year to an event eagerly planned by Russ: the "Ford Family Fun Days" which Deb continued after his untimely death, also at age 60.
Deb was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in December of 2009. She fought a hard battle, maintaining classic Ford stubbornness and good sense of humor though out her treatments. Deb will be cremated and a celebration/memorial of her life will be held at the farm at the convenience of the family in June.
The best measure of how a person has lived their life is the people they leave behind. During her last week, Debbie had many visitors animal and human alike and a common theme to the conversations around her bedside was how much Debbie meant to each person. The legacy that Deb leaves behind lives on in all of us; her family and friends who love her and will remember her always. We're not crying for you Deb, we are crying for us.
Contributions in Debs memory can be made to: The Leukemia Society, P.O. Box 9031, Pittsfield, MA 01202 or the American Driving Society, P.O. Box 278, Cross Plains, WI 53528.
