Constance Yost's Obituary
Constance Jan Yost, of Woodstown passed away suddenly Wednesday afternoon at her home in Friends Village Retirement Community. She was 77 years old. Born in Bridgeton, NJ October 4, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Paul Willem and Christine Marion VanderLoo, and the wife of her adoring husband James S. Yost, whom she celebrated their 57th anniversary with on June 11, 2023.
Constance was a graduate of Western Maryland College, and worked as a Social Worker for the State of NJ. She was a Certified Insurance Counselor with the Earle H. Sloan Agency in Elmer, and also served as the Registrar for the Borough of Elmer for many years. She and her husband James were long time members of First Baptist Church of Elmer where she taught Sunday School, sang with the choir, Ladies Ensemble and offered special music on many occasions. She also served on the Mission Board and volunteered at Vacation Bible School annually. She sang with the Gospelaires Trio ministering throughout the tri-state area for many years and recorded several albums with the group.
Connie enjoyed decorating the sanctuary and fellowship hall of the church every Christmas, attending mission conferences and VBS. She and Jim graciously hosted many missionaries and visiting pastors in their home over the years. She enjoyed reading, making weekly trips to the library and she especially found great joy in baking desserts and cookies for friends, family and church events. She and Jim moved to the Friends Village in 2020, and immediately found her niche in the Book Club, calling Bingo, and participating in Wii Bowling and Bocce Tournaments.
She is survived by her loving husband James, her son and daughter in law, Paul and Judy Yost, daughter and son in law, Heidi and Mark Sray, four grandchildren, Suzanne Hinckley, Charlotte Yost, Amelia Mueller, and Benjamin Sray, and one great grandson Henry James Mueller.
Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Saturday morning June 17, 2023 at 11:00am from First Baptist Church of Elmer 209 Broad Street Elmer, NJ, her pastor Rev. Erik Hansen will officiate. A viewing will be held from 10:00 till 11:00am prior to the services. She will be laid to rest with her parents in Overlook Cemetery, Bridgeton.
