Christine M. Miller's Obituary
Christine M. Miller, 90 of Hopewell Twp. passed away Saturday evening November 7, 2009 at her residence, with her loving family by her side. She had been in failing health for the past two years.
Born in Dover, Delaware, she was the daughter of the late Fred H. and Mary Elizabeth "Lizzie" nee Mosley Ridgeway, and the wife of the late Albert Miller. Christine had been a resident of the Hopewell area for the past 61 years and growing up as a child was active along with her many brothers and sisters helping their father on the family farm. She also worked as a store clerk in C.B.Campbell's Store and the old Watson Can House, both in Greenwich, and the former Siebel and Stern in Bridgeton. She was very active in her church, St. John United Methodist Church, Fordville which she joined in 1951, serving as a Sunday School Teacher, Communion Steward and usher, and was a member of the Methodist Women's Society, and Building Committee. She was a member of the WCTU of Cedarville, and a member of the Ionic Chapter #15 Order of the Eastern Stars where she formerly served as Grand Worthy Matron for two years, and as District Deputy for 8 years, and also as secretary. In 1954 she joined the Oziel Grand Chapter Order of the Eastern Stars, and served as Grand Matron from 1972-1978, she served on the U.S. Flag Bearer Co., and was Chairman of Membership and Booklet. She was a member of the Nanticoke Lenni Lenape Indian Tribe of Bridgeton and received her Indian name of Sunflower. She loved and enjoyed spending time with her many grandchildren, and would often say she was truly blessed as a mom-mom. Surviving her to cherish her memory are her two children Albert L. Miller and his wife Margaret and Alberta F. Graves and her husband James all of Hopewell, her adopted daughter Barbara Shultz and her godchild Cheryl, one brother Norman Ridgeway of Hopewell Twp., and one sister Pauline Gould of Fairfield Twp. one sister in law Naomi Ridgeway, and her brother in law Jacob Pierce, 9 grandchildren Mary Pierce Brent and her husband William, Milton Pierce, Albert Pierce and his wife Rena, Richard Graves, Iolanda Graves, Duane Graves, Michelle Miller, Albert Miller, and Christine Miller, 16 Great Grandchildren Nadine Brent, Christopher Brent, Catina Brent, Brian Davis, Wesley Davis, Sahmar Cotto, Xavier Graves, Richard Roy Graves Jr., Shaemar Peterson, Allysia Graves, Kayla Rodriquez, Charimar Morales, Shawna Miller, Damien Hadden, Lakeisha Pierce and Albert Pierce Jr., 4Great Great Grandchildren Eziekiel Brent, John Cadogan IIII, Flor Nava, and Jayshawn Johnson, and several nieces and nephews,
She was predeceased besides her mother, father and husband by her daughter and son in law Christine E. and Milton Pierce, 5 brothers Roland Paul Ridgeway, Carl Franklin Ridgeway, Harrison Ridgeway, Henry Ridgeway, and Fred Ridgeway, four sisters Dorothy Pierce, Thelma Loatman, Elizabeth Carney, and Lillian Pierce, her great grandchild Franchesca Morales, four brother in laws Carlton Pierce, David Loatman, John Carney, Marvin Gould, and two sister in laws Irene Ridgeway and Edith Ridgeway, one granddaughter In law Enid Graves, and one step grandson Terry Schultz
