Charles "Red Fawn" Green Jr.'s Obituary
Charles “Red Fawn” Green Jr., 40, of Fairfield Township, affectionately known to many as BJ, passed unexpectedly Thursday evening, April 30, 2026. BJ was born August 19, 1985, in Norfolk, Virginia, to Charles “Buzz” Green Sr. and the late Karen (Ridgeway) Green. He was the beloved husband of Deloria Bonito-Green.
A proud member of the Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape Tribal Nation and a drummer and singer in the Red Blanket Singers, BJ’s life was deeply rooted in his heritage. He served his people with dedication as a former Tribal Councilman, working to preserve and strengthen values, tradition, and community; among his favorite honors were working Big House ceremonies and drumming at pow wows. This connection to his roots was also expressed through his hands; he was a skilled artist of native crafting, creating pieces that honored his ancestors and his culture.
BJ’s dedication to serving others extended into the local community as a member of the Station 15 Gouldtown Volunteer Fire Company and the Cumberland County Fire Police. He was also a member of the Fordville St. John United Methodist Church, where he could often be found volunteering at food drives and various church events.
BJ worked at the family shop, where he was just as likely to offer a joke as he was a repair. He had a great sense of humor and loved nothing more than cracking a joke to see someone smile. BJ enjoyed cooking barbecue, loved riding motorcycles, and his rescue dog, Melo, who was a constant source of joy and friendship. But above all his roles and hobbies, his greatest joy was his family—especially his daughter, Kiyleen.
BJ leaves his legacy and memories to be cherished by his wife, Deloria Bonito-Green; his daughter, Kiyleen Joy Kenton; his father, Charles “Buzz” Green Sr. and stepmother, Cheryl; his grandmother, Margaret Kuff; his brother, Carl Green; stepbrother, CJ; godmother, Dawn Morris; godfather, Chief Urie Ridgeway; and a large host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family and friends.
He was predeceased by his mother, Karen Green; his paternal grandfather, Alexander Green; and his maternal grandparents, Rosemarie and Raymond Ridgeway Jr.
