Allen and I became friends and room mates when we entered advanced pilot training at Reese Air Force Base in Lubbock TX in 1952. He became my friend then and remained so until his death. I met Allen when he was the Chaplain of the Protestant Church on the Air Force Base on Crete in 1973 and I worked at the TV station. He asked a young man to look beyond himself and direct the church choir, something I thought I could not do but with his encouragement, took it on. I saw him begin his radio ministry at the Armed Forces Radio station there with the inception of "Words and Music" and the beginning of another great friendship with Terry & Marilyn Dull. Our friendship grew over the years as we met again when he was pastor of the Riverside Presbyterian Church in Daytona Beach and he asked me to be the Choir Director and we worked with the organist Bill and his wife Linda Treichler. We went thru the heartache of the loss of his wife Billye and came to Deerfield for her funeral in 1979 where Kathi, my wife, sang "It is Well with My Soul". He became a 2nd father to me and I love him and miss him very much. I lost touch with him 3 years ago and I regret that so much but I take great pride that he now is with the one he loved and served the most, our Savior Jesus Christ and with his beloved Billye!!

The Treichler family has special memories of Allen while I served as organist and Linda and her parents were members at Riverside Presbyterian, Daytona Beach. Years later, he presided at Linda's father's and, more recently, her mother's memorial services. He will always be remembered fondly for his cherished friendship, his singing and musical interest and guidance he shared with our entire family. Dottie and I attended Riverside Presbyterian Church for quite a while and sat under Allen's ministry. We also were again blessed by his ministry at First Methodist in Ormond Beach. Dear Lillian and friends. Miriam and I want to express our love and sympathy to you, even as we celebrate Allen's entry into our Father's house of many rooms. Our friendship goes back many years, and we enjoyed one another's company. Four of us ministers met on the tennis court every Friday for many years. A highlight of our friendship came when, together, we sponsored a pilgrimage of our two congregations to the Holy Land. We cherish that time with Allen and with you. He was a great servant of our country through his military service, and an even greater servant of the Lord through his long and varied ministry.
