Ms. Carrie Wright was my First Grade teacher at Fairfield Elementary School (Gouldtown). I cannot think of another educator, that impacted my life the way she did. Ms. Carrie demonstrated what she preached. Her handwriting was beautiful, and she placed emphasis on penmanship with all of her students. My penmanship is a direct result of her patient training. As an adult, I was fortunate enough to be able to call her 'my friend", visiting her from time to time, even as her health began to fail. Although she had definite opinions regarding proper behavior for children, Ms. Carrie demonstrated a kind, quiet, patient, caring demeanor. This is the legacy she has left for us. Remembering her warmly.
