Carolyn J Grieve's Obituary
Carolyn June Morris Grieve, daughter of William and Bertha Feess Morris, born June 9, 1925, passed away at The Pines of Whiting on October 18, 2023. She was 98 years old. Carolyn was predeceased by her first husband, Vincent Cantillon (1925-1981), her daughter Carol Cantillon Tomasello (1954-2020) and her second husband Hilbert Grieve. She is survived by her son, John Cantillon (wife Ruth, daughter Carah Chapman, granddaughter Charlotte), and by Carol’s children Stephanie Tomasello Hager (husband Tim, daughters Emily and Caitlyn); Norman Tomasello (wife Desiree, children Johnny & Leann ); and Bryan Tomasello (wife Emily). Carolyn was one of 10 siblings and is survived by one sister, Hope Morris Felmey Barber, and numerous beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. She was a graduate of Bridgeton High School (NJ), worked as a bookkeeper, and owned a small dress shop in Mays Landing during the1970s with her sister-in-law Gladys. Carolyn’s large and loving family will remember her as a woman of faith and strong convictions. Carolyn never met a stranger- she was outgoing, valued time with family, loved parties and reunions, and checked in on her extended family members regularly by phone. To several of her nieces, she stood in place of a mother, offering guidance and support. She loved to laugh and had a tremendous sense of humor. She was also known for her tremendous sense of fashion as well as her lively independence. Her family mourns her passing and will miss her presence at gatherings even while rejoicing that she is now experiencing a heavenly reunion with loved ones who have gone on before. Interment will be private. A celebration of Carolyn’s life will be held after the first of the year.
