Benjamin Franklin Wright Sr.'s Obituary
Benjamin F. Wright Sr. 84 of Deerfield Twp. passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Thursday evening in South Gate Nursing Center, Carneys Point. He had been a patient there since January.
Born in Bridgeton, he was the son of the late Clarence J. and Laura (nee Brown) Wright and the husband of the late Georgette (nee Wynder) Wright.
Ben was employed for many years in the shipping department of Owens Illinois. He was a long time member of Trinity A.M.E. Church, Gouldtown, and enjoyed bowling. In his youth he played basketball with the Mt. Zion youth league. Ben was a proud veteran of The U.S. Army serving during World War II. He enjoyed his family and he especially loved traveling with his late wife, Georgette who passed away in 2010. He will be missed by many.
Ben is survived by his two children Virginia L. Dean and her husband Bradley of Deerfield Twp., and Benjamin F. Wright Jr. and his wife Toni of Fairfield Twp. his eight grandchildren Jai Wright, Benjamin K. Wright, Michael Willingham, Erika Colson, William Dean II, Melanie Anekwa, Mark Smith and Bradley Smith, his six great grandchildren Jaida Wright, Christopher Colson, Isaiah Colson, Kalila Anekwa, Benjamin Wright, and Cynthia Williams.
He was predeceased by his daughter Antoinette Willingham in 1989.
Funeral services will be held on Friday morning at 11:00 a.m. from the Trinity A.M.E. Church, Gouldtown. The interment will be in Gouldtown Memorial Park.
Friends may call on Friday morning from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the services at the church.
