Beatrice Munson's Obituary
Beatrice "Duke" Munson 83 of Fairfield Twp. passed away early Friday morning December 18, 2009 surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness.
Born in Elmer, NJ she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Margaret nee Carney Loatman and the wife of Elmer "Jim" Munson. Mr. and Mrs. Munson were long time residents of Fairfield Twp. Duke was a seamstress and had worked for several area sewing factories including Major Clothing, Thebers Clothing, and Model Blouse which she retired from in 1988. After her retirement she also worked for Fairfield Twp Board of Ed. in the school cafeteria. She was a very active member of the Nanticoke Lenni Lenape Indian Tribe of Bridgeton , her Indian name was "Floating Butterfly" and she volunteered with the Food Gleaning Program at the center, and would always help out in the kitchen at the Pow Wow. She also made the regalia ribbon shirts worn by many of thedancers at the Pow Wows. She enjoyed bowling, doing ceramics and crocheting, but she especially loved to travel with Jim, her sister Bootsie and brother in law Albert from Delaware, and going shopping to the dollar stores with her sister Tarp. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend. Surviving to cherish her memories are her husband Elmer "Jim" Munson, her two sons Samuel R. Munson and his wife Barbara of Hammonton, and Elmer C. Munson Jr. and his wife Elizabeth of Millville two grandchildren Sherry Caputo and Jennifer Blackwell, five great grandchildren Heaven McNamara, Brandon Munson, David Blackwell, Ryan Blackwell, and Alex Blackwell, two sisters Anna Coker of Dover, DE, and Isabel "Tarp" Durham of Bridgeton, and a host of nieces and nephews. Beatrice was predeceased besides her mother and father by three brothers James, Samuel and John Loatman, and four sisters Marion Loatman, Thelma Mosley, Mary Loatman, and Betty "Bootsie" Durham.
