Barbara Pierce Shaffer's Obituary
Barbara Pierce Shaffer, aged 77 years, passed away suddenly and peacefully, Saturday afternoon October 24, 2020 in Salem Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient for the past six days. Born in Salem, NJ, May 1, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Carl “Chappy” and Georgeanna Gould Pierce, and the wife of the late William “Bill” Shaffer.
Barbara worked as a Nurse’s Aide in the Cumberland Manor for over 30 years until her retirement. She was a proud member of the Nanticoke Lenni Lenape Indian Tribe of Bridgeton. She enjoyed the Senior Luncheons at the Tribal Grounds. She also loved Facebook and playing games online. She loved her family and time spent with them.
She is survived by her five children, John Wilmore and his wife Carmela, Carl Wilmore and his wife Natalyn, David Wilmore (Dorothy), Barbara Pierce, Juanita Rosario, and Anthony Wilmore and wife Kris, two sisters, Donna Mosley and Alice Johnson, 24 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren, three step children, Billy Shaffer, Brenda Shaffer, and Brian Shaffer. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by three sisters, Shirley Williams, Eva Bard, and Delores Jordan.
Private graveside services will take place in Overlook cemetery, at the convenience of the family.
