Anna Jane Lloyd's Obituary
Honoring a Cherished Life
Anna Jane Lloyd, affectionately known as Jane, was born on June 13, 1937, to the late Fenwick L. and Velma Rebecca (Cuff) Wright. The youngest of two children, “Little Janie Wright” grew up surrounded by love in the close-knit community of Gouldtown, New Jersey. A lifelong resident, she spent more than 60 years living just a short distance from the home where she was born and raised.
Jane attended Gouldtown Elementary School and graduated from Bridgeton High School in 1955. After graduation, she worked at the M.C. Schrank Company as a seamstress alongside her mother and several aunts.
On July 21, 1956, Jane entered into holy matrimony with Wendell M. Lloyd, beginning a beautiful love story that would span seven decades. Shortly after their marriage, Wendell was drafted into the U.S. Army and deployed to Germany. With remarkable courage and devotion, Jane traveled overseas alone, having just turned 20 years old, to join her husband. Together they lived in a German community, not military housing. They explored Europe, made lifelong military friends and created unforgettable memories of their adventures together.
After returning to the United States, Jane and Wendell welcomed their first child, Barry W. Lloyd, in May 1959, followed by their daughter, Lisa M. Lloyd, in November 1966. Jane embraced motherhood wholeheartedly, dedicating herself to nurturing, teaching, and supporting her children in every way.
In 1974, Jane began a 25-year career at the Fairfield Elementary School system, first as a cafeteria aide and ultimately as a teacher’s aide. Her primary focus was to provide individual and small group support to students who needed extra reinforcement. Her knowledge, patience, kindness, and gentle encouragement made her beloved by countless children. She retired in June 1999, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and service.
Jane’s devotion to family was always present. For 40 years, she played a vital role in the lives of her grandchildren — Barry Lloyd, Jr., Joshua Lloyd, and Jana Washington. “Mom Mom” was deeply involved in their lives: attending activities, celebrating milestones, and offering unwavering love and guidance. Her joy continued to grow upon the arrival of her great-grandchildren, Ethan and Arya Lloyd, whom she proudly supported in all their endeavors.
A woman of deep religious faith, Jane accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at a young age and served the Lord faithfully throughout her life. She was a devoted church member beginning with Trinity A.M.E. Church in Gouldtown and then Trinity U.M.E. Church in Bridgeton, NJ. She also served for many years with the Fairfield Township Volunteer Fire Company Number 2, Gouldtown Ladies Auxiliary.
Jane remained a source of loving and ever-present joy for her family until she was called to her heavenly home on December 30, 2025. She was predeceased by her parents, Fenwick L. and Velma R. Wright, her brother, Warren F. Wright, Sr., her sister-in-law, Gloria Yvonne Gould Wright, and her brother-in-law, Joseph Everett “Mickey” Lloyd.
She leaves to celebrate her remarkable life: her beloved husband, Wendell M. Lloyd; her children Barry W. Lloyd, Sr. (Cathy) and Lisa M. Lloyd-Washington (Shun); her grandchildren Barry W. Lloyd, Jr. (Shakeenah), Joshua A. Lloyd, and Jana R. Washington; her great-grandchildren Ethan J. and Arya E. Lloyd (Barry Jr. and Shakeenah); her nephews Warren Wright, Jr. (Sonya), Brian Lloyd, and Jeffrey Lloyd (Audrey); her sister-in-law Alta Lloyd; along with a loving host of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, church family, and dear friends.
Jane’s life revolved around her love of children. Although she never sought accolades, Jane was the reason each member of her family was able to thrive and find success in each one’s pursuits. We rejoice in knowing that she is reunited in heaven with the loved ones who await her arrival. Her love, strength, and gentle spirit will forever live in our hearts. The Bible assures us that Believers will knowingly meet again.
We love you, Wife, Mom, Mom Mom, GiGi, Aunt, and Cousin Jane!
