Alberta Graves' Obituary
Alberta F. Graves, 69 of Hopewell Township went home to be with her Lord and Savior, on Wednesday May 9, 2012 in the Millville Center, Genesis. She had been in failing health for the past several years.
Born in Bridgeton, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Christine Nee Ridgeway Miller, who preceded her in death and the loving wife of James "Jim" W. Graves of 40 years.
"Bert" as she was affectionately called, was a sewing machine operator for many years at the former Major Clothing Company in Bridgeton, and had also previously worked at the former Siebel and Stern, Rennoc and Thieber Dress Company. She was a long time member of St. John United Methodist Church, and had formerly served as an Usher. She loved her church, and she enjoyed good Gospel singing. Her hobbies included camping, dancing, doll collecting, crocheting and traveling with Jim. She also was a member of the Nanticoke Lenni Lenape Indian Tribe of Bridgeton. She loved her children, grandchildren, her family, and a host of friends.
Honoring her memories are her caring and loving husband James W. Graves, with their children Iolanda Graves of Fairfield Twp., Richard Graves and his wife MaryJean of Williamstown, Tia Turner and her husband Barry of Maryland, Duane Maryland, her extended daughter Susan Lively of Fairfield Twp., herbrother Albert Miller and his wife Margaret of Hopewell Twp., her adopted sister Barbara Shultz of Glassboro, and her 14 grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins.Until their homegoing, she wasa devoted mother-in-law to Enid Graves; a loving sister to Christine Pierce; a loving sister-in-law to MiltonPierce and Roy O. Graves; as well as a loving daughter-in-law to Roy L. and Vinnie Graves.
