Nancy and family - What a shock to come across this sad news by chance recently; I was looking for someone else on the funeral home's website. I was in Bridgeton back in September (2023) and, as I drove past your house after visiting Mother's grave, I thought, I wonder how Nancy and Paul are doing; I should plan on stopping in next time I'm in the area. Man, I'm so sorry to (over a year later) hear of Paul's passing. I knew him through my efforts to document Overlook, and he was a superb guy. I could just sit and listen to his stories for hours. My sincere sympathies to the family. You lost a gem. :(

I have just learned about Paul's passing. I was wondering why he was not making his "daily pass" through our parking lot and was really getting concerned that something happened to him, so I went on the funeral home web site, and there it was. I am so sorry. I have been through it and know a little of your sadness. One thing I do know is that God gives comfort when we have lost our loved one and it is comforting to know that Paul is safely home in Heaven. I only knew Paul for a short time, but I did enjoy talking to him when he stopped at the mail box. Please feel free to stop in any time.

That smile of his said it all! You all were his joy. He loved his work and life, his dignity and strength were always on call, waiting to serve those who interacted usually, at the end of loved ones lives. I remember such an encounter when my Daddy passed. Mother and I were so gently cared for, as he guided us to the place, where we will all rest in death together. His presence filled every nook and cranny of Overlook Cemetery, with the diligence of a Sheppard tending his sheep. Who could fill his shoes with such a heart?

Dear Nancy,
We were sorry to read of Paul's sudden passing. You are in our thoughts during this most difficult time. Paul was known to extend himself to assist others throughout his life time and it was evident, just recently when our son, Kyle was in Bridgeton and stopped at Overlook Cemetery. Paul went out of his way to assist Kyle in locating several monuments and provided, not only time, but information as well as friendly conversation. After his visit, Kyle shared how genuine and helpful Paul was to him and how glad he was to have met him.
Please know we will keep you and your wonderful family in our prayers in the coming days.
