Sally Foster

Sally Foster was born in West Virginia on September 24, 1936 to Margaret and Charles (Jasper) Welch. As a young child, the family moved to Vineland, NJ. When she was 12 years old, she was separated from her 8 siblings due to the sudden death of her mother. She was taken in by George Raab and Lillian Rabb McCaw. She was raised with her sister Diane (Rabb) Courter. Sally was a graduate of Vineland High School in 1954. She was married to Charles Foster for 66 years. She is survived by her 3 children , daughters Robin Barr (Gale Jr), and Janice Shumate (Myron) and a son Mark Foster (Sue). Her grandchildren are Jonathon Foster (Lisa), Leanne Britt, James Towell, Tyler Shumate (Kimberly), and Megan Shumate. She had 9 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by 2 grandchildren Gregory Shumate and Colin Smallwood. Sally held a wide variety of jobs. She worked at Bell Telephone, was a waitress and a bus driver, and she worked at Bridgeton Hospital in the Billing Department. She later went back to school and became an EEG Technician and later a EKG Tech. She was an avid gardener, and was known for her beautiful array of flowers and immaculately groomed flower beds. She also loved to bake for her family and friends. She had volunteered for several years at the church sponsored store in downtown Bridgeton called Bridge the Gap. Sally was a long standing member of the Bridgeton First Church of the Nazarene in Hopewell Township where she attended prior to her illness. A private family memorial celebration will be held in the future at the request of her husband Charles.
