Reverend James Andrew Stermen

Rev. James Andrew Stermen, aged 74 years of Bridgeton, passed away on Thursday morning November 10, 2016 in Inspira Medical Center, Vineland after an extended illness. Born in Bridgeton, he was the son of the late Andrew Bell and Rebecca (nee Willitts) Stermen, and had been an area resident most of his life, but had previously lived all over South Jersey. Rev. Stermen was a graduate of Bridgeton High School with the class of 1959 and Trenton State College in 1964. After his graduation, he attended and graduated from Drew University School of Theology. He taught elementary education for three years in Lawrence Twp. at Myron Powell Elementary and also for two years in the Bridgeton Junior High School. His love was ministry and he had served as a pastor in several Methodist Church’s, including; Sayerville, Waretown, Forked River, Bargaintown, English Creek, Westville, and his last appointment in the United Methodist Church of East Pennsauken. He is survived by his sons, Andrew M. Stermen and his wife Karen of Westville, NJ, and Charles D’Errico and his wife Teresa of Myrtle Beach, SC; his only sister, Bonnie Stermen of Upper Deerfield Twp.; grandchildren, Alexander LV Stermen, Mary Anna D’Errico, and Sara Jane D’Errico. He was predeceased besides his parents by a son, John L. Stermen. Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Saturday November 19, 2016 at 12:00p.m. from the SRAY-WEBSTER FUNERAL HOME, 62 Landis Ave. at Carll’s Corner, Upper Deerfield Twp. The Interment will be in Overlook Cemetery, Bridgeton. Friends may call on Saturday morning one hour prior to the services.
