Franklin R. Dean

Franklin R. Dean Sr., 81 of Fairfield Twp. passed away early Wednesday morning January 12, 2011 in South Jersey Healthcare Hospice Inpatient Center, Bridgeton where he had been a patient for the past week. He had been in failing health, since October of 2009 and seriously ill for the past nine months. Born in Fairfield Twp. he was the son of the late Elmira Dean, and the husband of Edith nee Cuff Dean. Franklin was raised by the late Mary Dean Kozma and Furman Gould. Frank was a resident of Fairfield all of his life and was formerly employed with Martin Corporation for several years until his retirement in 1995. He also at one time owned and operated Dean's Cesspool Business. He loved the outdoors, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also loved farming and gardening, often giving away most of his vegetables to friends and neighbors. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed sitting in his garage and spending time with his family and friends. Surviving him besides his wife Edith of 61 years, are his children Shelly Dean and her husband Jim of Pennsville, and Franklin R. Dean Jr. of Fairfield Twp., his four half sisters Evelyn Gould of Bridgeton, Noreen Taylor and her husband Ron of Delaware, Rosemary Burton and her husband Eddie of Fairfield Twp., and Matilda Green of Bridgeton. He was predeceased by a half brother Nelson Gould who was killed in action during the Korean War.
