Edith Phyllis Hall Johnson 80, was born to the late Anna Hall Wesley and the late Luther Gould on January 8, 1930 in Bridgeton, NJ. She fell asleep and peacefully departed this life on Thursday, September 23, 2010 in Las Vegas. Edith was a former lifelong resident of Bridgeton, and received her formal education in the Bridgeton Public school system. Early in life she moved to Port Norris and began working for the Oyster House. She later moved back to Bridgeton and worked as a seamstress at M.C. Shrank, Inc. Val Mode Lingerie. Edith retired from the Cumberland County Sheriff's Department after serving as a civil servant for 26 years. Edith professed her hope in Christ and served the Lord with gladness as a faithful member of Bethel Othello A.M.E. Church in Springtown, NJ. She sang joylessly in the senior choir. Her favorite hymns reflected her living, "It is well with my soul", " One day at a time" , and " Somewhere around God's Throne". She will be remembered for her quick witty words, as well as for her cooking, which were enjoyed by her grandchildren, family, and friends. Auntie Eddie was known to love to play BINGO , and she named her black poodle dog BINGO for the game she loved , she also collected Rooster figurines. She enjoyed crocheting elegant comforters and afghans, and loved to catch a bargain at yard sales or thrift stores for fun. She was often seen socializing with friends and family at the local McDonalds. She leaves to cherish fond memories of her life, two sons Eldon W. Brown and his wife Rita, Keith Johnson and his devoted friend Kay Crosell, one sister Doris Hall Davis, four grandchildren and six great grandchildren, two great aunts Adeline Oriphant, and Hannah Wesley, several nieces, nephews, cousins, various relatives and friends. Edith joins her predeceased daughter Brenda Brown Moore, her parents, brothers, and family somewhere around God's Throne.
