Dorothy A. Harper

Dorothy A. Harper, 96 of Ocean City, NJ passed away late Friday evening January 23, 2009 at the home of her daughter and son in law, Barbara and William Mlkvy. She had been in failing health for the past seven years. Born in Syracuse, NY on June 24, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Ethelburt L. and Elmina S. nee Schell Davison, and the wife of the late David C. Harper, Attorney at Law. Dorothy had been a resident of Ocean City since 1992 and formerly had resided in Bridgeton. She was formerly employed in the Probation Department of Cumberland County and was last employed as a Claims Examiner for the N.J. Department of Labor and Industry with the State Employment Office in Bridgeton, until her retirement on July 1, 1972. She was a member of the Cumberland County Historical Society and a former member of the Bridgeton Civic Club. She held office as the Chaplain of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Greenwich Tea Burning Chapter, Bridgeton, NJ. She was a member of the Seven Oaks Club of Bridgeton, and had served on the board in 1986 and 1987. She was also a member of the U.E.L. Association of Canada, and an active member of the former Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Bridgeton, where she served as a Sunday School teacher for a number of years. She was also very active in the Women's Missionary Society and served as Secretary of the Adult Bible Class. She will be sadly missed by all. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Mlkvy and her husband William of Ocean City, NJ and two grandchildren Beth Coffey Levin and her husband Rob and William Mlkvy Jr. and his wife Deborah, and three great grandchildren Kevin Coffey, Kyle Coffey, and Jessica Mlkvy.
