Charles D. Gould

Charles D. Gould 76, of Bridgeton, passed away suddenly and unexpected on Friday March 4, 2011 in South Jersey Regional Medical Center, Vineland , after being taken ill at his home, Friday afternoon. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Douglas W. and Mary nee Wynder Gould, and the husband of Lillian nee Manson Gould. Mr. Gould grew up and attended schools in Philadelphia until his family moved to the Bridgeton area when he was 14 years of age, he then attended Bridgeton Public Schools and was a graduate of Bridgeton High School. After high school he attended Glassboro State College, and received his teaching certificate, and pursued a career as an Electrical Instructor to inmates at Bayside State Prison for 22 years, until his retirement in 1997. Mr. Gould and his wife were long time members of Trinity A.M.E. Church, Gouldtown, where he sang with the Men's Choir and was a member of the Trustee Board. He was also a member of the Ionic Masons Lodge #40 and Eastern Stars in Bridgeton. He and his wife loved to travel and dine out, but he especially looked forward to spending time with his buddies his grandchildren. He will truly be missed by many. Surviving him is his wife of 54 years, Lillian, his two daughters Brenda Ann Holmes and her husband Wendell of Philadelphia, Debra Lynn Pierce and her husband Curtis of Hopewell Twp., his eight grandchildren Charolette Gould Smith, Wendell Holmes Jr., Kelly Pierce, Brandon Holmes, Brian Pierce, Melody Holmes, Nichole Holmes, and Benjamin Holmes. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a son Charles Douglas Gould Jr. and a sister Jane E. Gould Dantzler.
